Description
The 9-Day Northern Circuit Route is considered one of the most successful and scenic ways to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. As the longest route on the mountain, it offers excellent acclimatization, fewer crowds, and a gradual ascent profile that significantly increases the chances of reaching the summit. The additional day compared to the 8-day itinerary provides even more time for altitude adjustment, making it an ideal choice for climbers seeking a safer and more comfortable trekking experience. The adventure begins at Londorossi Gate on the western side of the mountain. Trekkers pass through lush rainforest, traverse the expansive Shira Plateau, and circle the remote northern slopes of Kilimanjaro before ascending to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa. The route concludes with a descent via the Mweka Route. Renowned for its breathtaking scenery, the Northern Circuit showcases a remarkable variety of landscapes, including rainforest, heath and moorland, alpine desert, and arctic summit terrain. Its remote northern trails provide spectacular views across the Kenyan plains and offer a peaceful wilderness experience rarely found on other Kilimanjaro routes.
