4-Day Mount Meru Trekking Tour

As you walk out of Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK) our dedicated driver will be eagerly anticipating your arrival at the airport holding a sign with your name on it, ready to extend a warm and heartfelt welcome. From there, a seamless and comfortable transfer service will whisk you away to enchating hotel in Arusha Upon arrival at the hotel, you will be served a delicious meal. Later on, our experienced mountain coordinators and your Guide will give you a pre-trekking briefing, an exciting opportunity to learn about the wonders that await you in your upcoming expedition on Kilimanjaro.

Start your adventure with a scenic drive from Arusha to the Momela Gate, where you’ll complete registration and meet your team for the trek ahead. From here, your journey begins with an armed ranger escort, ensuring safety as you hike through the beautiful Montane Forest. Along the way, keep your eyes open for the incredible wildlife that inhabits the area, including elephants, giraffes, zebras, and various species of monkeys. The trek to Meriakamba Hut follows a moderately challenging trail, providing you with plenty of time to adjust to the altitude while enjoying the natural surroundings. After an early breakfast, you’ll embark on your trek toward Saddle Hut, navigating a steep but incredibly rewarding ascent. As you climb higher, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the Meru Crater and the impressive Ash Cone, making the effort worthwhile. Upon reaching Saddle Hut, a hot lunch will be ready, allowing you to refuel and relax after the challenging hike. Once you’ve rested, you have the option to take a short hike to the summit of Little Meru, where you’ll be greeted with stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, a perfect way to end the day. Elevation: 2500m/8202ft to 3500m/11483ft Distance: 6km/3.5mi Hiking Time: 4-5 hours

We wake up just after midnight and have a light meal to keep our energies high. Once done with the meal we start the final ascent to Socialist Peak. This ascent will be steep and we will be making our way through gravel and rocky cliffs. This is the most mentally and physically challenging portion of the trek. Once at the summit, you will enjoy the magnificent views of the Meru Crater and the Ash cone. There are chances that one might catch a glimpse of wildlife like mountain Reedbucks and Klipspringers over the rocky ridge. From the summit, we begin our descent by continuing straight down to the Miriakamba hut. Elevation: 3500m/11483ft to 4562m/14967ft down to 2500m/8202ft Distance: 19km/12mi Hiking Time: 10-12 hours

On your final day, you’ll take a different, faster route down through open grasslands and mixed forests, offering great wildlife viewing opportunities. Enjoy excellent views of the crater and the national park’s plains. You’ll reach the Momella Gate by late morning, where you’ll bid farewell to your guides and porters. A vehicle will then transfer you back to your Hotel in Arusha for dinner inner and overnight stay deserved celebration. After breakfast, you’ll be transferred back to Airport for your departure.
